Note- New for the 24/25 school year- the General Scholarship application is used for several different scholarships. Students only need to complete the application one time and indicate which scholarships they would like to be considered for on the application. The student can turn in the General Scholarship Application to Mrs. Ruddy.
Scholarship Opportunities
Morris Area Garden Club Scholarship - $500 -The Morris Area Garden Club wants to recognize a student pursuing a field of study aligned with the club's interest. Seniors seeking college vocational schooling in relevant fields of study including agriculture, botany, plant biology, earth systems, ecology, environment, forestry, horticulture, and plant breeding are eligible. The Morris Area Garden Club Scholarship Application is due by March 1, 2025.
Lions Club Scholarship - $500 scholarship awarded to graduating seniors continuing their education at a 2 year, 4 year college, trade or vocational studies program. At least 20 hours of community service is required with at least 2 activities with the Lions such as the Pancake Breakfast and Helping with the Red Carpet Corridor Event. Students must complete the Lions Scholarship Application to be considered, the deadline is March 6, 2025 Applications due date is March 8th.
Gardner-South Wilmington High School Alumni Scholarship (sponsored by the class of 1957) - $500 scholarship awarded to GSW senior planning to further their education at an accredited college or technical/trade school and work toward a degree/diploma in the student's choice of study. Students must complete the General Scholarship Application to be considered, Application Deadline is March 6th.
Grundy County Justice Assistance Board Scholarship - $1,000 awarded to a student studying the fields of law, social work (mental health), and/or law enforcement at a 2 or 4 year accredited university. Applications are due February 19.
Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness - $4,000 renewable scholarshipawarded to a student who has experienced homelesseness. Application deadline is April 11. Haga clic aquí para la solicitud en español.
Barbara Bexson Scholarship $2,000 awarded to a student who has a need for financial support.Students must complete the General Scholarship Application to be considered. Application Deadline is March 6th.
Sharon Leve Band Booster Scholarship - $500 scholarship available to one senior who has been a member of the GSW Band, Chorus or Pantherette Spiritline for four years and has been accepted by and enrolled in a junior college, college or university for the fall semester of 2025. Application Deadline is March 6th.
Mack & Associates CPA's GW Accounting & Business Scholarship: The Gardner-South Wilmington Accounting & Business Scholarship will award $1,000.00 to one senior student of Gardner South Wilmington High School who will be attending a two or four year college or university in the fall of 2025, who plans to study in the fields of accounting or business. All applicants must complete the application form and include a 250 word essay to accompany their application submission. The essay should explain why the applicant has chosen to pursue a degree in accounting or business. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Application Deadline is March 7th.
Diane Donnelly Family Scholarship: - $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one senior who will be continuing their education after graduation. Students must complete the General Scholarship Application to be considered. Application Deadline is March 6th.
Masonic Scholarship: $1,000.00 Scholarship will be awarded to one senior who will be enrolled in a 4-year college-a 2 year junior college- or an accredited trade school or vocation training school. This award is provided by Mazon Lodge #826. If selected your presentation will be given on March 11th at 8:00 pm at the lodge. Please see guidance for more information. Deadline is March 6th.
Vista Learning Scholarship and Laptop - $1000 scholarship AND laptop will be awarded to graduating senior from Grundy-Kendall County. Students MUST qualify for free or reduced lunch. Students must complete the General Scholarship Application to be considered, the deadline is March 6, 2025.
Contractors Association of Will & Grundy Counties - Scholarship opportunity available to graduating senior who will be attending college full-time in the fall of 2025 pursuing a construction related undergraduate degree such as construction management, architecture, interior design, etc.. Must be the son/daughter of an owner and/or full time employee of a CAWGC member company or a son/daughter of a Will/Grundy union building tradesman. Student must have 2.0 minimum GOA For more information and application, go to https://cawgc.org/scholarships/ Application Deadline is Friday, March 14, 2025 at 5pm. A 500 word or less essay is required,
Fred Drendel Memorial Scholarship - Agriculture- $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree or career in an agricultural related field. This scholarship can be used for tuition and books at an accredited college, university, or trade school. The deadline to apply is March 28th.
Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Bloomington - SEVERAL scholarships are available on their website www.valleyofbloomington.org/scholarships - Go to this website and click on the scholarships tab along the top. Some of their available scholarships require you to have a Masonic Relative and others are open to the public. For additional information please see their website or see guidance. All applications are electronic. Deadline is April 1st 2025 unless noted.
Streator Onized Credit Union (SOCU): $1,000. Students must be a SOCU member in good standing and a minimum GPA of 2.0. Applicants must be a primary SOCU member by 4/1/25 to apply. Applications are available at: https://socu.org/news/scholarships. The application deadline is April 1, 2025.
JOLIET JUNIOR COLLEGE - The JJC Foundation Scholarship is offering a merit scholarship. This Merit is for tuition and fees for the academic year (full time enrollment) up to a maximum of $3,600.00 The student must have a 3.25 or higher GPA and a score of 1070 or higher on the SAT/21 or higher on the ACT. Application will be available starting February 1st and deadline is May 15, 2025.
Illinois Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) The Grundy County Retired Teachers Association offers several different scholarships for students with a major in educations. Applications can be found at https://www.irtaonline.org/foundation/scholarships/ . The deadline to apply if March 7, 2025.

Grundy County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship - $500 to $1000 (amount to be determined) scholarship available to graduating senior continuing their education at a post-secondary school. Must be a member or dependent of a member of the Grundy County Farm Bureau or be actively involved in the Collegiate Farm Bureau program. PB & J Scholarship Foundation: This scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed. Give Something Back Foundation - This scholarship program process begins with FRESHMEN. To qualify, the student must have a 3.0 GPA and qualify for the full Pell Grant. For more information, go to https://www.giveback.ngo/

Burger King Scholarship - High school seniors, BURGER KING employees, their dependent children, spouses or domestic partners in the U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico can apply to receive $1,000 to $50,000 scholarships if you plan on attending a college or university in the fall of 2025. You must have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scare (or equivalent) Be active in their school, community and/or have work experience. To learn more and apply http://www.bk-scholars.com. IFBW: Illinois Federation of Business Women's Club is awarding six $2,000 scholarships to deserving young women in Illinois. High School seniors are encouraged to apply. If selected, scholarship winners must be willing to participate in our Virtual Speak-Off Competition. IFBW is a state-wide organization that strives to make a difference in the lives of working women. Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship - Multiple scholarships worth varying amounts. Student must attend post-secondary school or accredited vocational or technical training school and who have maintained at least a 'C' grade average. Application Deadline is February 15, 2025. Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation Scholarships - MULTIPLE scholarships worth varying amounts. Preference given to military families. For more information, go to www.ilamvets,org/scholarships
Union Plus Scholarships: $500 - $4,000.00 to a senior who is planning on attending any college. Your parent or guardian much be an a member of the Union Plus program n good standing. Applications can be found at: https://www.unionplus.org/benefits/education/union-plus-scholarships. The application deadline is January 31, 2025.
DAR Scholarships (Daughters of the American Revolution): Each year the National Society Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of higher education in diverse areas of study including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science and English. U.S Senate Youth Program Hearst Scholarship: Illinois High School Junior or Seniors are invited to apply for the Hearst Scholarship. For more information log onto www.ISBE USSYP.com webpage. Application Deadline for 24/25 is October 4, 2024
Char & Mike Farrell: In honor of Char & Mike Farrell, the Community Foundation of Grundy County is now offering two $10,000 scholarship to area students attending University. To honor both of them, the Foundation has created two large endowed scholarships to benefit residents who are juniors or seniors in college in order to help complete their degree. Grundy County residents One scholarship will go to an education major and one $10,0000 scholarship will go to a student majoring in journalism, communication, or similar degree. Hagan Scholarship Foundation: This scholarship is a nationwide four-year need-based merit scholarship, designed to help high-achieving students graduate college debt free, providing $6,000 each semester Recipient must be Pell Grant Eligible and household income must not exceed $100,000 You must attend over four years of college. Festival of Trees Scholarship: One $1,000.00 scholarship will awarded to a graduating senior who will be attending college or a university in the fall. You must write a short essay on what your community means to you. The Jett family would also like to offer a scholarship to any senior who is interested in joining the Gardner Fire or EMS to help cover your certification. Illinois Sheriffs' Association: The Illinois Sheriffs' Association will be awarding over 100 scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to purse higher education during the 2023-2024 academic year. This scholarship is worth $500.00, applications are available at your local sheriff's office or on the Illinois Sheriffs' Association website at www.ilsheriff.org You must meet all requirements to be considered for this scholarship and all completed paperwork along with essay. Application deadline to be determined.
For Samantha Scholarship: This scholarship is an opportunity for High School Seniors to earn money to help pay for college expenses. This scholarship is open to any student regardless of grade point average or financial need. To qualify the student must be a US citizen, a high school senior and must have been accepted to and plan to attend an institution of higher learning within the United States. Township Official of Illinois Scholarship Fund Award: Each year, since 1989, the Township Official of Illinois Scholarship fund awards funds to graduating high school senior to continue their education at Illinois/colleges/universities. Morris Hospital Foundation: The Morris Hospital Foundation is offering scholarships to students from the Morris Hospital service area who are pursuing an education in healthcare. A total of $14,000 in awards will be available this year. You must meet all requirements to apply for these scholarships.
