Jim Fair

Jim Fair represents the class of 1966. Jim was a very active athlete while he attended GSW.  He played four years of baseball, basketball, and track.

After high School he attended Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University.

During this time period he served his country and state in the Illinois National Guard 129th Infantry- Joliet, Illinois.

After college he returned to GSW High School to teach.

During his 33 year career at GSW he was a mentor, coach, philosopher, and sometimes a butt kicker. However, he was always a positive leader for thousands of students and athletes.

He was a team member to his teachers and staff, and a positive mentor to the young teachers that moved through GSW.

He was honored as a recipient of the Dan Jerbi, GSW Teacher of the Year award, twice.

Mr. Fair writes, “It was a special place to me because of my fellow students, staff, and teachers. The list is long and their influence on me was great, making this a place where you want to be each day.”

Mr. Fair makes our community a special place to be.

We are proud to call Jim Fair a Panther.
